Day 22 - Rest Day

Apparently these are regular size watermelons, not in the Midwest or not!

(not my photo)

Just another day in Paradise. Spent the morning downsizing all the stuff I don't need. It filled up a medium USPS size box. A good chunk of volume, only about 5 lbs.

Around 10:30 we hit the town. We started with the Mission San Jose, got some Whataburger, went to the San Antonio museum of art, went to the Alamo, and finished with the river walk.

Mission San Jose was interesting. Cool to see how life was left back in the day. Whataburger was pretty dang good. Pretty dang good. San Antonio museum of art was fantastic. There was a good job of stuff, ranging from paintings to the sculptures to everyday objects. Fun place to visit.

The Alamo was also very cool. I did some reading on William Travis who was one of the leaders at the Alamo. During the final days before the Alamo fell, he wrote out to other armies requesting assistance. He feared the assistance wouldn't come. It didn't. One thing that he wrote that stuck with me was "victory or death". I like this motto.

The Riverwalk was also interesting. I tell my aunt it was like the Texas version of Venice. But it's its own unique thing. It would be cool to walk the whole thing, but certainly not that 3:00 p.m. on a day in June! We walked a nice little chunk, and I got taste of what life was like down there.

After that we went to HEB, very large grocery store company in Texas, and I stocked up with some goodies.

A little later we went to Olive garden. Believe it or not this was my first time at Olive garden. Pretty solid! I could see myself going back there again. They just kept bringing out food! Was a little crazy! Very delicious food. I am carbed up and ready for the rides to come.

Thank you Judy for the awesome weekend! I really couldn't ask for anything more. I was really anticipating getting to San Antonio and being halfway done, and getting here far exceed my expectations. So thank you for everything. Thank you

Tomorrow will be a little tough. Leaving is always tough...
