Day 25 - La Grange - Navasota

79 miles

Pretty solid day, can't complain. Left the RV park around 6:15. On the way to the grocery store, I noticed that there were trees in the middle of the road. It was pretty cool how this small town didn't cut down nature for roads.

I stopped at a HEB and picked up some breakfast and snacks for the bike. Was able to get some real fruit for breakfast.

Then I got on the road.

The plan for today was to make a little detour and stop in a little town that seems pretty interesting to me.

I hit New Ulm Texas a little before 9:00 a.m. I had to stop with the town! I just had to. It was about 10 miles off the route, but it was a necessity to see!

For those of you who don't know, I was born and raised in New Ulm Minnesota.

Stopped at a coffee shop/pizzeria. I talked to the people there for a little bit, and I had a cinnamon roll. Good food good people.

After that I was off to Brenham. This is a bigger town, probably pushing city status. It is the home of Blue Bell ice cream. People in the south know what I'm talking about. Anyway I stopped there and picked up some ice cream. I'm not joking when I say this, it might have been the best ice cream I've ever had in my life...

I got one cup, ate it very fast. It was so good that I went back in the building and got another one!

After that I got on the road again, and headed to Navasota. Navasota is a nice small town. Easy to navigate, and get to where I was going. And I was headed to the fire station. The maps I purchased, let me know that the fire station hosted cycle tourists.

So when I got there I talked to the firefighters for several hours. Interesting people. Very nice.

I set up camp behind the fire station, it seems to be an ideal situation.
