Day 28 - Merryville - Opelousas

102.75 miles

A very fast day.

I had a straight till end the whole day. It wasn't much, but it helped out. I think it's sat around 0 to 5 mph.

Did he completely honest I didn't sleep super well. I had a tough time getting to bed, and staying asleep. One of the few times I have slept in a bed in the past couple weeks. The other being San Antonio. Otherwise I hadn't slept in a bed since like Marfa. I'm used to the tent life I guess

But I was on a very fast road. Smooth shoulders and few turns. I think today was my fastest day. I averaged close to 16 mph. Which is flying for what I'm doing. I felt good too. Only stopped twice to refill the water. Really good ride today.

Not a ton of stuff to see. Just kind of cutting through Louisiana. A few small towns and that's about it.

I forgot to mention this, but a couple days ago I left Texas Hill country. Most the riding right now is extremely flat. This is probably the biggest reason why the speeds were as fast as they were. Hills are killers when you're carrying a decent chunk of weight. Completely kill your progress.

Couple other notes. Like I said many times before, a lot more water, and a lot more bridges. The roads I was riding on today was technically a US highway. US highway 190. It's funny, but some of the people gave me more space (went in the other lane) then some people on the county roads did. Just kind of funny.

I got to My host's house much sooner than I initially thought. I was thinking I was going to get there around 3:00 or 4:00. I got there at 1:00. Like I said I flew today.

The host's house is a little off the grid. I guess you'd call to work in progress. But it's certainly will do for tonight!

Not a whole lot going on in the town. I stopped at the library and chillaxed for a little bit. Read a little bit and enjoy the AC.

After that I had a shrimp poboy which was excellent! The food here is really second none. I'm going to be trying to consume as much seafood as I can.

I guess you could say I on a "seafood" diet. If I see food, and it's fish, I eat it

I also had one pint of blue bell mint chocolate chip ice cream. As Jimmy McGill would say "it's really good ice cream"
