Day 29 - Opelousas - Convent

105mi

Got a really good night sleep actually. No AC no problem.

Morning riding was pretty good. After a couple hours on US 190, I got off and got to take some country roads. It was nice, cuz the shoulder was getting pretty rough on US 190. There were some sketchy stretches with no shoulder. One in particular was a 4 mi stretch that was essentially a bridge over some swampy area. Not too bad, I just sat in the middle of the right lane and people passed around. Traffic today as a whole was pretty chill.

Once I got on that County Road I got into some shade, and some beautiful scenery. I was riding along a small river. Lots of beautiful trees.

Something felt off while I was riding though. I couldn't quite place my finger on it. Around 11:00 a.m. I got to a rest stop, and I checked the weather. At 11:00 it was 89, but the feel like temperature was at 98. I don't really know how that works, I usually just go by the temperature it is. But it was hot. It was a really hot day. Towards the end I just unzipped my jersey, and got to work.

The mileage was a little bit more challenging due to the heat, but I think I made pretty solid time.

I am noticing the more I get into Louisiana the less nice people are about me bringing my bike into the dollar stores. A lot more no's

Towards the end of my ride I was able to ride over the Mississippi. That was pretty neat. It was a very big bridge. And also it was the largest hill I went up. Again no shoulder, but the traffic wasn't too bad.

I got to where I was going (Poche Plantation RV Park) and then chilled out in their recreation room for the rest of the day. I did stop by the restaurant on site and had a Cajun burger. Unfortunately it was nothing amazing.

Lots of mileage, but a nice chunk of rest once I got here. Tomorrow should be more calm, well I don't really know. Headed into New Orleans
