Day 39 - Lake City - Jacksonville Beach

87 miles (fin)

I slept pretty well in the hotel. My actually fell asleep watching TV. What a life!

Woke up around 6:00, hit the breakfast with a hard! I mean hard.

Two pieces of toast, three little pastry things, three waffles, a little bowl of cereal, and some milk.

The forecast said it was supposed to rain till 9:00 a.m., so I thought I had some time for that to digest. But when I finish breakfast around 6:45, the rain had cleared up. I realize I had to jump on the bike as soon as possible.

I rode the first 80ish miles running only on the breakfast I ate!

So the rain had stopped, or at least the storm was moving. So basically the whole day I was right behind it. I followed it right now Jacksonville. So I was pretty much always riding on wet roads. Passing trucks and cars with kick up a bunch of water. Even though I didn't get rained on a lot, I did get wet because of that.

One thing I noticed here is that there are a lot of correctional facilities. Jails. I probably passed three or four today

Didn't really have a tailwind, more across wind. Perfect. Anything that is not a headwind is perfect

Jacksonville is massive. I had the outskirts with about 40 miles left. Not the most pleasant writing actually in Jacksonville. Few bike lanes and many impatient drivers. There was a couple times where people just laid on the horn, and did not let up. I really don't know what those people want, where am I supposed to go?

But my philosophy is killing with kindness! So I just smile and wave, I take the horns as a sign of support

Hiting the Atlantic Ocean was pretty cool. So way back in week one, I thought I was going to break down and cry when I hit the Atlantic Ocean. But no that didn't happen. There wasn't a whole lot of emotion going on. It was cool, but kind of just another ride. That's just who I am, always looking for the next mountain to climb.

In my head, I'm basically completed the ride back in Texas. The rest was pretty tame riding

Anyway I dipped my tire into the ocean and took some pictures.

Something I did think about when I was on the ride, was that the bike is the same, but it has different wheels. Things have changed and evolved on the bike. But it is the same bike. I think of myself, I have changed and evolved on the trip, but I'm still me. But I have changed a lot of ways through this trip. So am I really the same person?

This is some Ship of Theseus level of thinking

Anyway, I flying out on Friday and starting my new job 2 weeks from tomorrow. Moving into my new place in about a week and a half.

Thank you for following along, I may make one more post in the not so distant future thanking everyone.
